It started with two simple questions.
Before our company was founded, we asked ourselves:
Why can't people easily access their own health data?
Why do innovators often struggle to aggregate health data to build new technologies?
Watch this 20-minute overview of our platform:
These questions inspired us to go on a mission to radically accelerate the pace of health innovation by making health data liquid and putting consumers in control of their data. We believe that giving people full control of their health data helps create a new kind of consumer health ecosystem faster.
We spent years building a consumer health data platform that has integrations to thousands of fragmented health data sources in the U.S. We do the hard work of normalizing unstructured data, so we can deliver actionable data to innovators working on changing the health paradigm and improving human lives.
We're proud to be a catalyst and advocate for data-driven, consumer-driven health solutions, and we're only just getting started. Join our movement to democratize health data access and maximize human potential.
Who are Human API's Customers?
Human API works with healthcare industry leaders and innovators - from prominent life insurance agencies and medical research institutions to exciting digital health start ups looking to revolutionize healthcare.
Who are Human API's End Users?
Consumers! Our highest calling is to put individuals in control of their own health data. We put each human's needs, preferences, and interests at the center of every choice we make. We remember that the ultimate value we create is for consumers and that health data represents real people.
What Does Human API Do?
Vision: We exist to radically accelerate the pace of health innovation for everyone, everywhere.
Mission: We create health data liquidity valued by customers and controlled by consumers.
Human API is the first consumer-controlled health data platform that gives users a simple way to connect and share their health data with a health business, platform, or application. Our business customers (both health enterprises & start-ups) use our product to build and deliver consumer-centric health apps and services.
Our network includes:
- Data recorded in medical records from hospitals’ patient portals
- Test results from labs
- Medications from pharmacies
- Wellness data from consumer-grade wearable devices & fitness apps
Human API takes care of data integrations with third party data sources, user management for consumers across all data sources, and data normalization over a secure, HIPAA compliant, RESTful API.
Core Components
- A fast growing list of data sources
- Connect, a component to authenticate users' health data from all sources
- Data API, a unified, normalized API to manage users' health data
- Human API Portal to manage and view connections, and access data
Let's examine each in detail and how they work together
Provider Network
Human API partners and works with a wide variety of medical data sources from hospitals, providers, labs, pharmacies and more. This ecosystem of data sources provides the building blocks of data on which Human API customers can build their applications and elevate both speed and quality of healthcare for consumers.
Connect
Human API provides a simple way for customers to authenticate end users' health data from anywhere within our data source network. When customers integrate our authentication process into their web or mobile application, users will be prompted with a popup to grant the application access to their health data. The process of integrating Connect is straightforward and fast.
Normalized API
Human API pulls in, cleans up, structures, and normalizes all of this health data and provides a unified API for customers' backend to query. We provide customers a secure token for the user's records, which can be used like a key to query the data provided by end users, maintaining the highest standards of privacy and security.
Human API Portal
Human API Portal allows customer organizations to invite people to share their health data and view a profile for everyone who is sharing data with them, including the status of their connections, an interactive timeline view of their health data sources and the ability to download their health data.
